Quotes

Simba. (Simba: Father?) (A giant shadow of Mufasa's Ghost appears through Simba's vision) Simba, you have forgotten me. (Simba: No. How could I?) You've forgotten who you are, so you have forgotten me. Look inside yourself Simba. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life. (Simba doubting himself: How can I go back? I'm not who I use to be.) Remember who you are. You are my son and the one true king. Remember who you are.
~ Mufasa's Ghost encouraging Simba to return to Pride Rock and take his place as king.
(Julius: DAVID! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?) I'm making a mess! (Julius: Yeah, this I can see.) We gotta burn the rainforest, dump toxic waste, pollute the air and rip up the ozone! Because maybe if we screw this planet up enough- (he suddenly collapses, drunk) ...they won't want it anymore. (Julius (rushes forward to help) David! Don't do this to yourself. Listen to me, listen to me.) I'm listening. (Julius: Everyone loses faith at some point in their lives (takes a bottle from David's hands) Even myself. I haven't spoken to God since your mother died. You see, sometimes, we have to remember what we still have.) Like what? (Julius: Well...you still have your health. Come on, David, you need your rest. Come on, get off this freezing concrete floor before you catch cold. Come on.) What did you just say? (Julius: What, about faith? Well, you see, a man can live his entire life-) No, the other part. (Julius: What? I don't want you to catch cold. (pause) What is it, what's the matter.) Genius. (Julius: Genius?) My dad, a total genius.
~ Julius Levinson convincing his son, David, to never lose faith, and unintentionally giving him an idea in the process.
Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world, and you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. Mankind. That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom. Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution… but from annihilation. We're fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice: We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!
~ President Thomas Whitmore giving a powerful speech to his new comrades.
Good evening, London. Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comfort of everyday routine, the security of the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in the spirit of commemoration, whereupon important events of the past, usually associated with someone's death or the end of some awful bloody struggle, are celebrated with a nice holiday, I thought we could mark this November the 5th, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat. There are, of course, those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well, certainly, there are those who are more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable. But again, truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. They were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent. Last night, I sought to end that silence. Last night, I destroyed the Old Bailey to remind this country of what it has forgotten. More than four hundred years ago, a great citizen wished to embed the fifth of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that fairness, justice, and freedom are more than words, they are perspectives. So if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you, then I would suggest that you allow the fifth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me, one year from tonight, outside the gates of Parliament, and together we shall give them a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot."
~ V giving a pre-recorded speech to the people of England, convincing them to rise up against their government
We are not losing one more of these civilians, understand? (Lockett: You getting us out, too, staff sergeant? Or are we expendable?) (Nantz marches up to Lockett.) All right, Lockett. You want to go there, let's go there. I commanded men, and men died. Kids, 19 years old, the best Marines I ever led. Do you think for one second that I wouldn't rather trade places with them? I know you think I got my men killed. They're dead. I'm here. Like the punch line to some bad joke. You think I like that? You think that a minute goes by that those faces aren't right here, seared into my brain? Dante, Thomas T. Corporal. 1-5-6-5-0-9-3-8-6. Ambruster, William R. Private. 8-7-6-6-6-2-3-5-4. Wharton, Jeffery H. Lance Corporal. 8-7-4-2-7-3-9-9-3. Lockett...Duane G. Corporal. 1-5-6-8-7-0-9... (Lockett: 5-5.) Your brother was an outstanding Marine. He was my friend. And I miss him every day. And you remind me of him. But none of that matters right now. Because our duty is to keep moving forward, to keep fighting. That's how we honour your brother, and Lieutenant Martinez, Corporal Stavrou, Lance Corporal Motolla...Hector's father, who picked up a rifle and did what needed to be done. A civilian did that. So we'd better dang well step it up. Discard any lingering doubt. Work fast, work as a unit and we will prevail. Let's figure out how we're going to get out of this mess. Imlay, you come with me. We need to get to higher ground. The rest of you, find some ammo and some vehicles. There's got to be a few LAVs or armoured Humvees still operational.
~ Staff Sergeant Nantz urging his platoon to work together and keep fighting to honour and avenge their fallen comrades.
Everything you've heard about me is true. I lost my family, my job...I'm an alcoholic. My daughter was diagnosed with acute leukemia at the age of five, and I spent my time at work, instead of at home, looking after her, because I was afraid of watching her die! I'm not a good father. I'm not a good man. But I'm not hijacking this plane. I'm trying to save it. And I WILL save it if you work with me.
~ Bill Marks convincing the plane's passengers that he's not their hijacker, and that they should work with him to survive.
You all right? (Scarlett: Yeah, I'm fine. I didn't want anyone to see me like this.) Why? (Scarlett: I don't know. All the men we lost, General Hawk wounded, my neck just doesn't seem that important.) Hey. You almost lost your life out there. You have a reason to be concerned. (Scarlett: First fight I lost since I was a kid. My father taught me to win.) Look, I don't see how you could teach anybody to win everything every time. I mean, look at you. You're still here, right? You get knocked down, you get back up. Maybe that's what he wanted you to learn. But then again, there'd be an emotional response. (starts imitating General Hawk) One that can't be explained or quantified. (they both laugh)
~ Ripcord convincing Scarlett to get over her pain.
(Brenner is stuck on a platform, with barrels going in every direction around him.) I can't do this! There's no pattern! (Matty: Pretend you're the guy and you don't want to die!) I don't want to die! I COULDN'T EVEN BEAT EDDIE PLANT! (Matty: Eddie Plant's a cheater! That's why he was so good in New York, he used cheat codes! He did the same thing to you when you were kids! You know what that means, right?) (Brenner thinks for a moment and realises this.) I'm the Donkey Kong champion of the world. (Van Patten: And the Donkey Kong champion of the world doesn't need patterns.) Reset button!
~ Sam Brenner realising he was the Donkey Kong world champion the whole time.
I've risked everything. My entire life's work... (Passepartout: For something you believe in. Nothing could make more sense than that, sir. (Fogg smiles for a moment.) You're an honourable man, Passepartout, but I'm afraid this was a calamitous lapse of judgement. (Passepartout: (turns around and sees a painting.) Mr Fogg, maybe we should let your family-) There is no-one left to tell. This house and my inventions are all I have. (Passepartout: And a brave new French valet that will help you make it around the world in 80 days,) You really believe we can succeed? (Passepartout: Yes.) Yes! Yes...You're mad, we'll be sliced to pieces before we reach India.
~ Phileas Fogg coming to believe he and Passepartout can succeed in his bet.
(Monique: Come on, let's catch the next ship.) It will never reach London in time. (Everyone falls silent in sadness for a moment.) (Passepartout: No, no, no, WE ARE NOT GIVING UP! I ALMOST DIED, YOU ALMOST DIED! WE WILL CATCH THE NEXT SHIP AND WIN THAT BET!) (Phileas holds out his rulebook, which Passepartout takes.) Alright, let's go. (they walk out of the workshop.)
~ Phileas Fogg, Passepartout and Monique La Roche deciding to continue their round-the-world race just after their battle in New York City.

(Buzz face down) Woody: Come on Buzz. (signs) Buzz I can't do this without you. (Woody look down) I need your help. Buzz facing down: I can't help. I can't help anyone. Woody: Why, sure you can Buzz. You can get me out of here. Then I'll get that rocket off you and we'll make a break for Andy's house. Buzz: Andy's house, Sid's house. What's the difference? Woody: Oh, Buzz. You had a big fall. You must not be thinking clearly. Buzz: No, Woody. For the first time I am thinking clearly. You were right all along. I'm not a space ranger. I'm just a toy. A stupid little insignificant toy. Woody: Whoa, hey being a toy's alot better than being a space ranger. Buzz being doubtful: Yeah right. Woody: No, it is. Look (pointing to Andy's house) over their in that house there is a kid who thinks you are the greatest and it's not because you're a space ranger, pal. It's because you're a toy, you are are his toy. Buzz: But why would Andy want me? Woody: Why would Andy want you? Look at you! You're a Buzz Lightyear. Any other toy would give up his moving parts just to be you. You've got wings. You glow in the dark. You talk! Your helmet does that, that, that whoosh thing. You are a cool toy.
~ Woody tells Buzz of what it means to be a toy
Old Charles Xavier: Charles. Young Charles Xavier: Charles. Old Charles nodded. Young Charles: So this is what becomes of us? Erik is right. Humanity does this to us. Old Charles: Not if we show them a better path. Young Charles: You still believe? Old Charles: Just because someone stumbles or loses their way it doesn't mean they are lost forever. Sometimes we all need a little help. Young Charles: Oh, I'm not the man I was. I opened my mind, and it almost overwhelms me. Old Charles: You're afraid, and Cerebro knows it. Young Charles: All those voices.... so.... much.... pain. Old Charles: It's not their pain you're afraid of. It's yours, Charles. And as frightening as it may be, their pain will make you stronger. If you allow yourself to feel it, embrace it, it will make you more powerful than you ever imagine. It's the greatest gift we have. To bare their pain without breaking, and it's born from the most human power: hope. Please Charles, we need you to hope again.
~ Charles Xavier from the future encouraging his younger self from the past to never lose hope
Raphael steps inside his home and hang his jacket. Splinter: Raphael. (Light up a match) Come sit by me. Raphael: Couldn't this wait till morning? Splinter: You will listen, now! (Raphael approach to Splinter and sat right next to him as Splinter place the match on the candle) Splinter: My master Yoshi's first rule was, "Possess the right thinking." Only then can one receive the gift of strength, knowledge and piece. (Turn Raphael's face towards him) I have tried to channel your anger Raphael, but more remains. Anger clouds the mind, turn inward, it is an unconquerable enemy. You are unique among your brothers, for you choose to face this enemy alone, but as you face it, do not forget them and do not forget me. (Placing his hand on Raphael's head) I am here, my son.
~ Splinter encouraging Raphael to overcome his anger

(Dot: But you said that everything--) Flik (sadly): Forget everything I ever told you, alright, Dot? Let's face it, the Colony is right. I just make things worse. That bird is a guaranteed failure...just like me. (Manny: You listen to me, my boy! I've made a living out of being a failure. And you sir, are NOT a failure!) (Rosie: Oh, but, Flik, you've done so many good things!) Flik: Oh, yeah? Okay, well show me me one thing I've done right. (Dim: Us.) (Manny: Dim is right, my boy. You have rekindled the long-dormant embers of purpose in our lives.) (Slim: And if it wasn't for you, Francis would've never gotten in touch with his feminine side.) (Francis(angry) Oh Yeah?! (calms down) You know what? He's right.) (Gypsy: Lt. Gypsy reporting for duty!) (Francis: Kid, say the word and we'll follow you into battle!) (Manny: We believe in you my boy!) (Dot: Flik, please?) (Phil turns to leave, but Pegasus blocks his path) (Meg is desperately near the verge of tears) Look, I know what I did was wrong, but this isn't about me, it's about him. All I had was my treasure and now it's gone! You get that?! My life is ruined! And now you're gonna know how that feels.) (Lowers her boot to his hand) (Dave: No! NO!) (Ian arrives) It's tempting to blame Dave. I know. I've been there. I wish I could take back all those years I spent plotting my revenge. All that time and energy, wasted. All those pizzas I had delivered to his house, wasted! (Dave (surprised): That was you?) Not now, Dave! Alright? You can let Dave fall to his death, and I could go back to the raft with the Chipmunks, become their manager again, and make tons of money, so really I'm good either way. But let me tell you something: Hate, anger, regret. Those aren't just members of a girl-group I once signed. They're what consumed me. And they're consuming you. It's not to late to do the right thing. (Zoe looks thoughtful) Or again. I'm good either way. so I don't wanna sway you. (Alvin sprints in) (Alvin: What are you guys doing?! Help me! And Grandpa Lou put your picture inside. I know it's hard, Tommy. You have a little brother now, and that's a big change. (Tommy puts down the watch) Uh, Dil can be pretty tough to get along with, huh? But sometimes little brothers, they aren't everything you'd hoped they'd be. (Stu opens a drawer, then pulls out a picture of himself and Drew, when they were kids) That's why big brothers have got to have faith. And one day, you'll see...he'll change. (Miriam [from Moses' mind]: You are born of our mother, Yocheved! You are our brother!) [Moses quickly removes his sandals and throws them behind him.] What do you want with me? (God: I have seen the oppression of my people in Egypt, and have heard their cry. [sounds of screams and cracking whips] (Moses' Voice: Leave that man alone!) So I shall stretch forth my hand, and lead them out of Egypt, and deliver them into a good land. A land flowing with milk and honey. And so, unto Pharaoh, I shall send... you.) Don't be so hard on yourself. We'll get out of this. (Jimmy continues to mope and cry) OK. So, you made a mistake. Beating yourself up isn't gonna fix anything. You know, I was the smartest kid in school until you came along. And I admit that you know more about some things than I do. But I know one thing that you don't seem to get! And that's that we're never getting outta here without you. So, why don't you buck up, mister, and put that big brain of yours back to work? It's my conscience! (The conscience rips off the chains and seaweed, straightens his halo, then advances on Iago, angrily.): Heh heh heh! So, long time, no see. Where've you been? (Conscience: You chained me up, locked me in a chest, and dropped me off a cliff into the ocean! REMEMBER?!) You were crampin' my style! (Conscience: You instigated one of the bloodiest wars in the history of Mesopotamia just so you could corner the falafel market!) Hey, no one's perfect! (Iago's conscience picks him up, spins him around, and throws him into a tree trunk.) Ouch! Point taken! You saved them! (The Omen: Enough! (Fights Ashi) Hope is just a fleeting sentiment. Your failure is real. You must face the consequences or continue to bear the guilt of your dishonor for all eternity.) Jack, don't listen! You're being misguided! I've seen it! You've saved COUNTLESS innocents-but most of all. (The Omen: "growls and attacks her") You showed me the truth! You made me see that there's so much more to me than I know existed! You made me way more than what I was! The hope you gave me SAVED MY LIFE! (The Omen: Death follows in your wake. Men, women, children. Yes, all those children dead because of you!) No! The children!
